English info

Though this event is mainly addressed to the german community, we want to welcome everyone. For this very reason here are some basic info for our non-german guests:

Where an when is WordCamp Würzburg going to happen?

WordCamp Würzburg will be a one day event on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018. We’ll meet at Uni Würzburg, Hubland at the Central Lecture Building Z6. We’ll start at 9:00 am with the check-in and will have closing remarks on 6:00 pm.

Is there a Contributor Day?

Yes. One day in advance – e.g. Friday, September 21st we will have a Contributor Day on the same venue, same times.

What about a party?

Good news! We will a party on Friday evening as well. You’ll find us at Club L and you will have some drinks on us!

Any recommendations or even a voucher for a hotel?

Feel free to use one of your favourite booking apps or platforms for your hotel booking. As this event is only one day and due to the number of about 100 – 150 attendees we expect we didn’t feel, that this is worth to prebook any contingents. City of Würzburg has you covered: https://www.wuerzburg.de/en/visitors/index.html

How do I get to the venue

From the large perspective: Würzburg is well connected by train. Deutsche Bahn ICE stop here frequently. The airports Nuremberg and Frankfurt are within a one-and-a-half hour travel by train. By car the Autobahn A3 in east-west and A7 in north-south direction take you to Würzburg.

Uni Hubland is approached by the bus lines 7, 10, 34, 114, 214. For details see the busline plan of VVM. Approaching Würzburg by car you should follow the signs for the horticultural show (Landesgartenschau) which is next to the Uni campus.

Will there be talks in english?

As long as you provide one ;-). Seriously: we don’t know. You might have recognized, that there hasn’t been a call for speakers at all. WordCamp Würzburg will be in barcamp style, so first task after the check-in will be to present yourself (very short) to the audience and pitch your task if you have one to offer. We will gladly also accept reverse sessions e.g. if you are looking for an expertise you might suggest the topic and see if it could be filled by any other attendee. The talks are scheduled to last 45 mins, to have enough time for our attendees to switch rooms, get a refreshment or whatever else. Any other duration for lightning talks, longer lasting workshops etc. are possible, but we kindly ask you to inform us about such wishes in advance.

How much will it cost?

Tickets are on sale for 20 €. If you like to support the event, feel free to book a Community Sponsor Ticket for 75 €.

What do I get for my money?

Fun – as always on WordCamps. Though not knowing the exact schedule of talks – see above at „barcamp style“ – we are very sure that you will have a wide variety of topics to chose from. We have the opportunity to offer four parallel slots for talks. Over the day we have 6 time frames, so this will sum up to 24 sessions. Each one will be recorded as well and published on wordpress.tv. You can’t miss a talk. Which gives you the opportunity for …

… networking. Also something to expect. Though not on the official schedule the „hallway track“ is sure one of the most beloved things on any WordCamp. Meet old friends or make new connections. It’s up to you.

Our generous sponsors supplied us with various swag, which we will put together for you in a bag. Feel free to show up at their booths for a thank you and may be some extra gifts. Most valued will be of course our T-Shirt.

Foods and drinks during the conference and the Contributor Day are on us. We are also heavily working on gaining additional sponsors to cut your costs at the party. Present status is: reasonable prices for food and drinks. We are aiming for a completely free of charge evening for you. Keep fingers crossed!

For all events: make sure to have your badge with you to take advantage of what WordCamp Würzburg offers.
